Even though the Focus is one of the oldest models in Ford’s car range, it managed to stay on top through constant updates and one of the best chassis, if not the best, from the small family car market.
The 2015 Ford Focus update is going to be pretty much unchanged over the previous model but it is going to add a new spec which is only going to be available for a limited time. On top of that, the base engines are also going to suffer a few changes to their engine management system which is going to improve its fuel economy on the highway.
Price and Release Date
The base model will come in the US for nearly 17.000 dollars which is a bit more than some of its competitors but when you take into account Ford’s more powerful engine and better equipped interior then it is worth it. The release date for the new model is going to be in the third quarter of 2015 for the US market and at the start of 2016 for the rest of the World.
2015 Ford Focus engine
Engine wise, the Focus will come as standard with a 2 liter aspirated inline 4 which is good for up to 160 horsepower and around 155 lb-ft of torque. The engine is smooth and remained pretty much unchanged over the previous model. For a bit of extra money, a 1 liter turbocharged EcoBoost is going to be available. This offers a 40% better fuel economy but only offers up to 130 horsepower which may come as a drawback for people using it outside the city.
Both of these engines are going to be available as standard with a 6 speed manual with the possibility of getting a 6 speed automatic which not only improves shifting times but also gives the driver a more relaxed ride.
The new model which is said to be a special edition is the RS. This will get a 2.3 liter turbocharged inline 4 which is said to provide more than 350 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque which together with a 6 speed automatic and a four wheel drive system would allow the Focus RS to get to 60 MPH in less than 5 seconds and up to a maximum top speed of over 150 MPH.
2015 Ford Focus interior
On the interior, the only changes the 2015 Ford Focus is going to receive is the bump for the infotainment system which will get an upgraded screen from 4.2 to 6 inches in the standard form. The RS will get the standard 8 inch screen and Recaro seats with the possibility of getting modular Recaro seats.
2015 Ford Focus exterior
On the exterior, it will only receive minimal changes such as a new grille for the RS and also a new body kit and 20 inch wheels, but only on the RS model.
