For a long time Honda was trying to produce a supercar that’s going to be able to compete with both performance and popularity with Nissan’s GT-R. During the nineties under Acura badge they produced futuristic supercar, which came with much less power than its competition, but also with much lower curb weight which made it one of the fastest cars on the market. Old NSX’s production was ended in 2005, and during the same year Honda announced they are working on this vehicle’s successor. After few prototypes and concept vehicles in the beginning of 2015 the new model is going to be presented on North American international Auto Show, and we need to wait and see is it going to come close to the market ruling GT-R.
2016 Acura NSX exterior
Exterior styling of the production version looks a lot a like the 2013 concept version with typically big Acura grille and massive bumper and air dams to follow. Some new things in the front fascia are for example the big splitter that sticks out from the grille down and blades that separate the grille from the side intakes. Five point headlight configuration is replaced by the six LED lights and LED stripe in the center. In the back this model comes with only minor modifications, and almost the same taillights.
2016 Acura NSX interior
2016 Acura NSX is going to come with the sportiest ever interior design made by Honda. We should expect flt bottom steering wheel, that looks racy enough, wrapped around dash-board and sloping center console. Since we’re talking about luxurious sports car it will come with numerous aluminum and carbon-fiber inserts inside the cabin, as well as racy and adjustable seats wrapped in Alcantra leather upholstery. We should also expect heated and ventilated seats, powerful sound and some top notch infotainment system.
The company did their best on keeping this model’s engine a secret, but some things you just can’t hide. The rumor leaked that the new 2016 Acura NSX is going to be equipped with twin-turbocharged 3,2 litre V6 engine. This engine is going to come with additional three electric motors, made for spinning the front wheels and one rear axle. All this together will be able to produce incredible 500 horsepower and the same amount of pound feet of torque. This joined output will be equally transferred to each wheel by the Honda’s Sport Hybrid Super Power All wheel Drive. We also should mention that the new model is going to come with seven speed dual clutch transmission. While the old version of NSX was able to reach 60 mph in 5 seconds, new one will not need more than 4 seconds to do the same, and it will be able to reach 180 mph of maximum speed.
Release date and price
2016 Acura NSX is not going to be the least expensive supercar, this place is traditionally reserved for the GT-R. NSX on the other hand compete with some more expensive models like Audi Q5 for example, which will make its price go from $110,000 to $120,000. Its main rivals accept Q8 and GT-R will be Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 and BMW i8. Release date hasn’t been announced yet, but we believe that new model might arrive to the showrooms across the US in the second half of 2015.
